Trakia University, Bulgaria, Stara Zagora

is an autonomous state institution. It was founded in 1995. The structure of the university includes 6 faculties - Faculty of Agriculture; Faculty of Veterinary medicine; Faculty of Medicine; Faculty of Education, Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Technics and Technologies, Medical College and Department for Information and In-Service Teacher Training (DITT). The University performs education along programmes with four educational and qualification degrees – professional bachelor, bachelor, master and PhD, as well as programmes for qualification and post graduation specialization in the system of lifelong education. The teaching staff includes 227 professors and associated professors and 419 non-academically ranked teachers. The university teaches more then 6000 students, in these number 300 foreign students from 16 countries.

The Department for Information and In-service Teacher Training (DIITT) is an autonomous part of Trakia University. Its activities include: improving the qualification of teachers and administrative staff in the area of education; science development; participation in training of students from subjects and majors taught in Trakia University. DIITT trains the teachers in all subjects included in curriculum of the schools from the system of secondary education. The object of the training; training in methodological and didactical issues in teaching school subjects; management of teachers own career development; preparation of teachers for new professional-qualification degrees; organizing and holding of an annual pedagogical forum, conferences and etc.

The Faculty of Education is one of the main units of Trakia University. The faculty is heir to the best pedagogical traditions in the country and the city. The academic staff of the faculty includes: full professors, associate professors, assistant professors and tutors who work in 3 departments. The faculty teaches more than 1100 regular and distance-learning students in the accredited professional branch Pedagogy, specialties: social pedagogy, special pedagogy, pre-school and primary school pedagogy with a foreign language.
